Giant hole on an empty beach

Dimanche dernier, nous avons bravé l'automne et sommes descendus à Batemans Bay pour passer la journée à la plage.

Nic a fait son dernier cours de surf, Élie a passé la journée à creuser un énorme trou et Mia et moi, nous nous sommes amusées à jouer dans les vagues et à pêcher des palourdes et des bernard-l'hermite.  Nic a aussi louer un surf board pour l'après-midi, et a eu la gentillesse de me le prêter un peu.  On s'est fait croire qu'on était bon (avec notre planche de foam géante dans les mini-vagues...), et on s'est amusé comme des enfants.

La plage était vide (c'est l'automne, rappelez vous), il faisait beau soleil et, pour une fois, la mer était chaude.  Bref, une autre journée parfaite à "notre" plage, comme les enfants l'appellent déjà.  Tellement, qu'on a tout de suite réservé un weekend à notre retour de vacances pour aller retaquiner les vagues...

Last Sunday, we decided to defy autumn and went down to Batemans Bay for a day at the beach.

Nic had his last surf lesson, Elie spent the entire day digging a giant hole, and Mia and I had fun playing in the waves and catching clams and hermit crabs.  Nic also rented a surf board for the rest of the afternoon and was kind enough to let me have a go.  We pretended we were good (with our giant foam board in the mini waves...) and had a blast.

The beach was empty (remember, it is fall), it was warm and sunny, and for once, the ocean was pretty warm too.  So all in all, another terrific day at "our" beach, as the kids like to call it.  So good in fact, that we have already booked a weekend there when we come back from our vacations.  Let us tackle the waves...
