The Queen's many birthdays

Cette fin de semaine est une fin de semaine de trois jours pour les Australiens, le deuxième lundi de juin étant la "Queen's birthday" et un jour férié.  Malgré que le Canada et l'Australie ait la même reine, le jour de son anniversaire est apparemment choisi selon la convenance de chaque pays.  Alors, mes compatriotes canadiens l'ont eu à la fin mai, et nous l'avons ce weekend.  Et tout ce que j'ai à dire sur le sujet est que je remercie la reine de nous offrir un beau weekend de trois jours!

Et pour l'occasion, nous partons faire une petite escapade à Sydney!  Nous n'y serons que deux petites journées, mais j'ai très hâte de la revoir, après y avoir vécu une année il y a de ça déjà 11 ans.  Et de la faire découvrir au reste de ma petite famille, bien entendu.  Je serai donc de retour dimanche seulement, avec un petit aperçu en couleur de notre escapade.

This weekend is a long weekend here in Australia.  It is the Queen's birthday and a public holiday.  Even though Canada and Australia both share the same Queen, the official birthday varies from one commonwealth country to the other, according to the country's liking.  So my canadian friends celebrated at the end of May, and we are getting the extra day off this weekend.  And all I have to say on this particular topic is that I am grateful to the Queen for getting a nice long weekend!

And to celebrate, we are off to Sydney!  We will be spending only two days over there, but I am beyond excited to see the city again, after having lived there for a year, 11 years ago.  And to introduce it to my little family, of course.  So I will be back on the blog on Sunday only, with a little post about our weekend away.
