Traveling: The Barossa Valley

Afin de prendre une petite pause entre nos deux longs bouts de 15 heures de route, et puisqu'on passait par-là, nous avons fait un petit arrêt dans la fameuse vallée de Barossa.

Nous avons donc fait la tournée des vignobles pendant une belle grande journée et demie.  C'était beau.  Et c'était bon.  Et s'il n'avait pas fait si froid la nuit (N'appelez pas la DPJ, les enfants, eux, étaient très confortables dans leur sac de couchage de duvet.  Il n'y avait que moi qui avait un sac de couchage ben trop froid pour la saison...), on aurait surement eu envi d'y rester un peu plus longtemps.

Les vignerons de Barossa ont tout compris: ils accueillent les familles à bras ouverts et offrent pour la plupart un petit coin jeux pour les enfants (ie, une boîte pleine de vieux jouets), ce qui permet aux parents reconnaissants de déguster leur petit vino tranquille, et par la même occasion, d'avoir le goût d'en acheter plus.

Bref, on a bu du vin, fait un pique-nique gastronomique sur le bord d'un lac plein de tortues, admirer les paysages et fait notre premier feu de camps en deux semaines de camping.  Une belle fin pour un beau voyage!

In order to break our two 15-hour driving stretch, and since we were passing by anyway, we stopped for a couple of days in the infamous Barossa valley.

So, of course, we enjoyed their beautiful wineries for a day and a half.  It was gorgeous, both for the eyes and the tastebuds.  And if it hadn't been so cold at night (Don't worry, the kids were fine and warm in their duvet sleeping bags.  I was the one who didn't have a sleeping bag warm enough for the season...), we would probably have wanted to stick around a little longer.

The wine makers of Barossa got it: they welcome families with open arms, and most of them offer a little play area for the kids (i.e. a box full of old toys).  This allow the happy parents to truly enjoy their wine tasting, and, at the same time, make them feel grateful and inclined to buy even more wine.

To summarize, we drank wine, had a wonderful gastronomic picnic by a lake full of turtles, enjoyed the scenery, and had our first campfire of our 2-week camping trip.  A beautiful way to end another beautiful trip!
