Dans ses planifications, notre bureau avait estimé que notre livraison devait arriver dans les 30 premiers jours, ce qui aurait voulu dire la semaine dernière. La compagnie de déménagement, elle, avait été plus prudente et nous avait dit de ne pas attendre nos meubles avant un bon 45 jours, c'est-à-dire autour du 24 mai. Nous avons finalement reçu une première estimation de la part de la compagnie de déménagement australienne, qui nous a informé qu'ils prendront contact avec nous probablement autour du 5 juin afin de s'entendre sur une date de livraison. Ce qui donne deux longs mois et exactement le double du temps estimé à prime abord par notre bureau.
D'ici là, même si on se trouve une maison, on ne peut y déménager, faute de meubles et de tout le nécessaire. Il nous reste donc au moins un autre gros trois semaines à l'hôtel. Et pendant ce temps-là, toutes nos possessions se font dorer sous le soleil au milieu du Pacifique. On aurait peut-être dû choisir pour l'option croisière nous aussi...
If you have been following this blog for a while, you will remember that we received our air shipment a lot later than anticipated. Obviously, we weren't expecting anything less of our sea shipment. And we were right.
In their planning, our office estimated that we should had received our sea shipment within our first 30 days in Australia. The moving company was a little less optimistic and told us not to expect anything before a good 45 days, so around 24 May. Finally, we received our first estimated time of arrival from the Australian moving company, and they told us that we would be contacted around June 5 to schedule a delivery date. This means that it is taking two long months, and exactly double the amount of time our office estimated at the beginning, for our stuff to travel between Canada and Australia.
Until then, even if we find a house, we won't be able to move in, since we do not have any furniture and other little essential things. That also means that we still have a good 3 weeks left at the hotel. And in the meantime, all of our belongings are enjoying the sun, slowly cruising on the Pacific. Maybe we should have opted for the cruise too...
