Last Saturday, it was the "fête" at Elie's preschool. Over here, every school, daycare centre, community centre, or anyone else who needs fundraising holds a "fête" every year. These are opened to everyone, and usually comprise of kids' games, food, shows, kiosks, and even rides. And even the smallest ones, like the one at Elie's school, require months of preparations, lots of donations and many many volunteers. They are A LOT of work. I still can't understand how teachers can find the time and energy to make these happen.
I chipped in a bit by painting little girls' nails for about 2 hours. Then we spent a few hours just enjoying the fête as a family. The kids obviously loved it, and came back home exhausted, full of tattoos and knick-knacks, and with an impossible-to-clean face painting. And the promise to go to the one held by Elie's primary school next Saturday...!
