Traveling: San Francisco, California

Bingo.  On était parti.

We didn't think we would be coming back so soon!  But who would say no to a surprise weekend in San Francisco?

Even if we had not planned on spending time in California, once fed and rested, we all felt like making the most of the opportunity we had.  We quickly got organized to make the most of the 48 hours we had: we made a few phone calls, got dressed with whatever warm clothes we could find in the suitcases we had, and borrowed a stroller from the hotel's lost and found.  And off we went.

We strolled around San Francisco's touristy spots on both days: Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 for the seals, Chinatown and Little Italy, the Embarcadero, Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower (which was closed for refurbishment… all that climbing to hit our noses to a door!), Lombard Street, Mission District for yummy mexican food, several Ghirardelli shops (they give you a chocolate square when you enter… so we "visited" many….).  The children behaved like pros, especially Elie, who walked for almost 7 hours on the first day, under a fine, but never-ending rain (the next day, he decided that umbrella strollers weren't for babies finally…!).  We ate lots.  And rode a cable car.

To sum up, it's always fun to spend a bit of time in San Francisco!  And the stop-over was worth it in the end.  It definitely made coping with the whole trip and the jet lag easier.  We will keep this option in our back pocket for next time (only, not with United Airlines!).

So here are the few pictures I managed to take between the rainy day and my full arms, if you want to see…

It's crazy how much they have grown since last time!
