On a campé à Jindabyne, juste au sud du parc national, parce qu'on n'était pas prêt à faire face à des toilettes sèches avec les deux enfants et le bébé. Le camping n'était pas sauvage, mais pas trop mal; situé sur le bord d'un grand lac au pied des montagnes. Les enfants ont adoré. Ça faisait longtemps qu'on n'avait pas campé (depuis notre road trip dans le centre rouge en fait), alors tout était d'autant plus excitant.
On a pris ça pas mal tranquille pendant notre weekend, mais on a quand même tenté notre chance sur le sommet le plus haut de l'Australie: le mont Kosciuszko. Évidemment, les enfants n'ont pas réussi à faire les 13km de marche nécessaire pour atteindre le sommet, mais nous nous sommes quand même rendus jusqu'à la plate-forme d'observation, un gros 5km de marche en altitude.
On a tous bien aimé notre expérience, même si le plus haut sommet d'Australie n'est pas super impressionnant après avoir visité les montagnes voisines de la Nouvelle-Zélande... Tout de même, on a fini la journée en se payant une petite ride de bobsled vraiment trop amusante (et rapide!).
Ce fût une fin de semaine vraiment relaxante. On se sentait loin (voir, presque chez-nous!), et ça faisait vraiment du bien de sentir l'air frais et de se retrouver dans des paysages franchement différents. Voici donc quelques photos de notre excellent weekend.

Last weekend, we took a million pieces of luggage and went camping in the Snowy Mountains.
We camped in Jindabyne, just south of the national park, because we didn't feel brave enough to face dry toilets with two kids and a baby. The camping was quite urban, but not too bad, and we enjoyed lovely views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The kids LOVED it. It had been a while since our last camping adventure (since our road trip in the red centre in fact), so everything was very new and exciting.
We took it easy most of the weekend, but managed to try to ascent Mt Kosciusko, Australia's highest summit. Of course, the kids didn't make the 13km necessary to walk to the summit, but managed the 5km alpine walk to the observation platform.
We all liked it very much, even if the highest summit in Australia isn't that impressive when you have visited its neighbours in New Zealand... And we finished off the day with a super fun (and super fast!) ride of bobsled!
It was a very relaxing weekend. We felt like we were really far away (read: almost felt like home!), and it felt awesome to be in the crisp air and look at sights that were completely different. So here are a few pictures of our very excellent weekend in the mountains.
