The last and the first day of the year

Cette année, nous sommes restés à Canberra pour fêter la nouvelle année. Les grands feux de Sydney étaient bien beaux l'an dernier, mais y'a beaucoup de monde et ça coûte beaucoup de sous pour joindre les festivités, alors cette année, on a décidé de continuer avec notre thématique tranquille.

Nous sommes donc allés passer la soirée sur le bord du lac Burley-Griffin avec des amis pour regarder les feux de Canberra. C'était très relaxe, mais bien agréable, et oui! on est tous resté debout jusqu'à minuit!

Le lendemain matin, grande première dans notre vie, les enfants ne se sont pas levés à 6 heures! On a tous dormi tard (lire ici 8:30-9:00), et passé la journée a ne rien faire tout le monde ensemble. C'était parfait.

Le premier jour de l'année ne sera toutefois pas représentatif de l'année qui s'en vient. 2016 sera pour nous une année bien chargée: la rentrée à la grande école de Mia, beaucoup de voyages (on est sur le dernier sprint!), des adieux, un autre déménagement outre-mer et toute la réadaptation qui viendra avec. Prêt, pas prêt, on n'a pas le choix. On est déjà rendu en 2016.

This year, we stayed in Canberra to ring in the new year. The fireworks in Sydney were beautiful last year, but there is a lot of people there, and it costs a lot of money to actually be able to join in, so this year, we decided to keep going with our "quiet" theme.

We spent new year's eve on the shore of lake Burley-Griffin with our friends and watched the Canberra fireworks instead. It was all very laid-back, but nice, and yes! we all made it to midnight!

The next morning, a big first in our lives, the kids did not wake up at 6 am! We all slept in (read until 8:30-9:00) and spent the day doing nothing all together. It was perfect.

However, the rest of 2016 will not be as quiet as the first day for us. 2016 will be a very full year: Mia will start big school, we have lots of trips planned (we are in our last sprint!), we'll have lots of difficult goodbyes to say, another oversea move to organise and a lot of re-adaptation to do afterwards. Ready or not, it's here. We are in 2016 already.
